Bernice had an accident today. Bernice is our van. I had just pulled out of our driveway, and WHAM! It was just like I hit a brick wall. It was scary. I had no idea what had happened, and like I said; it felt like I slammed into a brick wall! I looked around thinking I had hit something, and then, maybe someone had hit us, but no. There was no explanation. Trevor was home early, because it is my birthday today, so he came out and assessed the damage. Hmmm. Nothing. We had to get it out of the street and it wouldn't move. Neutral was not neutral. So Trevor got out the skates and then because we have such a rocky paved road, it was hard to push it. So then Trevor got out the jeep to pull it out of the road. But then, we have no chain and we have no tow strap. So DANG! I guess ratchet straps were the best of the worst, but that's what we used. So he towed the van out of the street on skates with a ratchet strap. We are such white trash. I think her transmission is toast and she needs a transplant. Happy Birthday to me. And it is funny. I TOLD them that towing a trailer with the van was a bad idea!!!
Just like everything in my life, nothing comes easy. The move just came to a screeching halt. Until the van is fixed, our stuff is going nowhere.
p.s. Those red things with wheels are skates.
p.p.s. The van was turned 90 degrees the other direction from where it is in this picture, but in the road in front of the driveway. Try putting your car in park and trying to push it. That's how this was. So that's why we put the skates on the van to move it.
post update: We spent all of tonight until 10 p.m. trying to get Bernice the last few feet into the driveway. We ended up using a come along attached to my non-running jeep in the garage. Did you know jeeps are lighter than vans? We had two men pushing against the jeep while I ratcheted it up the driveway inches at a time. It took forever.
