Being with my family this past week has led me to one very OBVIOUS conclusion.
I am getting OLD!
My nephew Ben will be leaving on a mission in just a few short months. I have a niece in college and another niece about to start college. This is just all sorts of crazy!
I was watching some home videos today of when Samantha was born, and that's when it hit me that she is almost a year old! Where has the past year gone?
Is it just me, or do the years go by faster and faster the older I get? I guess I still think of myself as the young girl without any wrinkles on my face and lots of energy and spunk.
Of course the truth is (as Trevor pointed out to me the other day) I am looking rather old these days. He says you can see it in my face. I don't see what he is talking about but I'll take his word for it.
I know how I feel, and I definitely don't feel that old. I can settle on just being young at heart right? Right?
Why in the world would Trevor say that to you? It's inevitable for us all to get old. So whether he says it or not, it will still be true...

We were looking at some wedding and dating photos of ourselves. I asked Trevor if I still looked the same. In my mind I haven't changed a bit. He said I looked a lot older.

ReplyDeleteAlyson, I'm sorry to say that the older you get, the faster time flies. You will be going along and all of a sudden, Logan will be in Kindergarten, then he will be a Deacon and then he'll be going on a mission. And then you'll understand what I'm saying. I swear that Ben just entered Kindergarten not too long ago. Time really flies! So, the lesson is this - enjoy your kids now and love every minute with them and Trevor.
ReplyDeleteAren't husbands funny? Alyson you are not getting or looking old. You have almost 3 kids and are a beautiful woman, with a lot of life ahead of you. I think you are great. If you are getting old, I guess I am too. Join the place I call denial with me, its super fun!
ReplyDeleteIf it helps any I am a great-aunt 4times over (due to crazy size of Elias' family)...I figure getting old is fine + there's not much we can do about it :) (I will be 30 in 3 months..) Just enjoy your kids while they are little, because time does go by sooooo fast- Owen (who in my mind is still sooo little) will be 4 in 3 weeks- I can't believe it. And by the way.. you don't look even close to old :)
