A Good Book

I wish that I had more to post than just pictures, but lately there hasn't been much to say. Life is moving forward. I'm busy with yard work and sewing projects. See. Boring.

Monday 11:00 a.m. : I am outside the house trying to start the old weed whacker and see movement out of the corner of my eye. About a foot away from me lying in the grass is a baby bird. Doesn't even have feathers yet. I scream! I don't know why I screamed, but I was startled. I go running for my sister's house. She knows about birds and she will know what to do. I tell her it's an emergency and she comes running too. We have to save the baby bird!

I get a ladder since the nest it fell out of is way high up in the tree. No luck. The ladder is too short. Bummer. We look around and see another nest. We can reach that nest. We bring the ladder over and my sister bravely climbs up and drops the baby bird inside.
Monday 2:00 p.m. : I am still trying to start the weed whacker and see movement out of the corner of my eye. There in the grass are TWO baby birds. No feathers on either one. I scream! Why do I keep doing that? I run for my sister's house. We briskly walk over and she scoops them up and brings them to the other nest. The ladder is still there since I wanted to be able to climb up and check on our baby bird. She bravely climbs up the ladder and I hand her one baby bird at a time as she dumps them in the nest.

"That was strange" we say to one another. We look up into the tree at the nest we cannot reach. There is a hole in the middle of it about the size of my fist. I see the tail end of one more baby bird. I say to my sister how "I sure hope the last baby bird stays in the nest".

I watch the new baby bird's nest all afternoon and am pleased to see that the mommy and daddy birds are feeding all the babies.

The thought crosses my mind that they might not be the same type of birds. How funny that would be.

Tuesday 1:00 p.m. : I look up at the nest we cannot reach and am pleased to see the tail of the last baby bird. I am glad it is still in there.

Tuesday 7:00 p.m. : I am outside sanding the playground getting ready to stain the old wood, when I see movement out of the corner of my eye. I look over and there is the last baby bird in the grass. I didn't scream. I said "oh no". I walk over and get my sister. She says "I'll be there in about ten minutes". She comes over and picks up the bird and climbs up the ladder and dumps it in the nest.

"How weird" we say to each other. At least there are no more babies left to fall out of that nest.

Tuesday 9:00 p.m. : Cleaning up the sander and power cords, I am walking by the tree when I see a nest there on the ground. It is the said nest of the babies old home. It has a great big hole in the bottom. I guess it was bound to come down. But how strange is that. Don't birds normally mud the nests to the branch so they are sturdy and won't move? This mommy bird didn't know how to build a very good nest!

I decide to climb up the ladder to check on the babies. I bring my camera. It is the first time I have climbed the ladder to look at the birds. I climb to the top and burst out laughing.

This is what I see.
Wait. You need a closer picture you say?

It May Be Catching...

Our string of bad luck continued this past week along with a few good things thrown in.
Trevor finally dug into fixing the truck. We rented a "kit" to fix it, but for some reason couldn't get it to work the way it was supposed to. Instead of the easy one hour fix it was supposed to be, it ended up being a week long ordeal.

Long story short, and it is a very long story, he basically disassembled the entire motor. There are engine parts ALL OVER the place. I only hope he can remember how it all goes back together. The good news is he got the head tapped and an insert in place (this was the original repair). I'll have a working truck soon if he can find the time to reassemble it all.
Sorry I can't turn this picture. Something weird is going on with my little camera. I've really popped out haven't I?

Next Trevor got a call for an interview in Burley. He left Thursday night in our one and only running car. After the interview Friday morning, and while driving home, he lost fifth gear due to the TRANSMISSION going out on the car. The good news is 1st through fourth gear still work! YAY! I wonder how long we will be able to drive it...

After Trevor made it home Friday, he went out to the garage to put the lawnmower back together. Our lawnmower engine has been in the shop being re-built for the past 3-4 weeks. The grass has been getting longer and longer and is now roughly as tall as my knee.

He got the mower back together and promptly began mowing the grass. After about 1/4 of it was mowed he noticed the engine revving quite high and then heard a loud pop. The lawnmower blew a gear and is now back in the shop. The good news is that 1/4 of our lawn is mowed! Woohoo!

Reading back over this, I can't help but think "man it sounds like I'm whining", but I assure you I am not. Of course I am discouraged about life right now, but who wouldn't be?!?
It's just hilarious that all this stuff would continue to happen over and over.

I do see the blessings we continue to receive and am grateful to Heavenly Father for watching over us. At least life is never dull at the Misseldines. I would caution you all to stay away though. It could be catching! These are my new "reading" glasses. Guess I really am getting old.

Happy Birthday Trevor!

Today was Trevor's birthday. The big 3-0!! I feel really bad he had to share his birthday with Mothers Day. I told him we would just try to forget about it being Mothers Day and it could just be his day. He felt really bad about that idea but we tried to stick to it the whole day.

I love Trevor and cannot imagine traveling this life without him. He is such a huge support and cheerleader to me. He is the best dad and takes his job seriously. His children are his number one priority. He is kind, patient, and loving with his family. He is always full of praise and kind words to lift us up.

I am so grateful to my in-laws for raising such a good and valiant son. I'm sure they had their questioning moments, but I thank them for not killing him in his teenage years.

Reflections

I had a wonderful birthday this year. My family made it a special day. I can't help but look back on experiences I've had the past few years and think about what a different person I am today.

IF YOU ARE BORED NOW, DON'T BOTHER READING ON. IT GETS BORRINGER!! (I know it's not a word, but it sure is fun to say)

Not that I was shallow or anything, but I find I appreciate things in a different way. Maybe that's from having no money as poor college students. And here's something mushy... The best gift I received this year was spending the day with my family. HA! That's when you know you're getting old - when you start sounding like a recording of your mother.

SO anyways here's to another year of gaining more depth and wisdom.

And here's something else I gained ... although it was only in the past month. 10 GINORMOUS POUNDS!! Yeah whatever. I had a lot of stress on me. Besides, I KNOW I will lose the weight once the baby comes. I was just hoping it wouldn't be as much as it has been in the past. And there is still hope for me. I have done well up to this point and if I can just get back in line...
